Climate

The Croatian coast and islands are situated in the Adriatic type of Mediterranean climate. The summers are hot, winters mild and humid, and the insolation is high. Special climatic features differ from island to island, depending on the location, above sea-level altitude and wind exposure. The main factor of the island climate and plant life is that the Adriatic Sea relates to warm seas. The temperature on the surface usually does not fall under 10°C, not even in winter, while in summer it does not exceed 25 °C. With the exception of bigger ports, the sea around the islands is clean as is the entire Croatian part of the Adriatic (Zadar region tourist board, 2012).
